The New Civil War continues although under the radar a bit as the economy marginally improves.
Again in today's WSJ
Page A3. Flint MI is under state control. Flint as you recall was the subject of Michael Moore's kick off to becoming a one percenter himself, Roger and Me
Detroit teeters on bankrtuptcy, little to no auto business in the city
Page A4, Wisconsin Recall Drive for Governor claims one million signatures, will cost over $9 M
Page A5 and editorial A 14 on the Keystone XL Pipeline, who would have thought of Canada as the growth Model?
Page A 12 8.5% Unemployment, really? Check out the graph on page A 12 showing the cities with over 20% unemployed for over one year, while the economy is doing better this ignores the now near permanent unemployed, these numbers will rise in significance later in 2012
Page B3 UAW President Bob King thinks the 54 MPG rule for 2025 will help the industry, the NADA says such cars if they can be bult could nto be financed ( a Smart Car wit a 700 cc engine will not get 54 MPG, most motorcycles cannot achieve 54 MPG, this is completely unrealistic but such is the thinking that gave us Detroit and Wisconsin today)
